Eli Wallace 2021 Tulsa Hawks Blue point guard
Eli Wallace had an outstanding morning, scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in a loss to D1 Prospects. His stellar stat line was not quite enough to boost Tulsa Hawks past the talented D1 Prospects team, but was outstanding in leading his team back from a 14-point deficit to trail by just a few points with minutes to go in the game. Wallace’s 3-point shooting skills may be the best part of his game as he knocked down four from beyond the arch in the loss, but it was his passing that set him up to get open looks from the 3-point line in the first place.
Antonio Reynolds 2021 D1 Prospects guard
Seeing Antonio Reynolds twice in the morning session – first against Tulsa Hawks Blue, then against Beat Elite – I was convinced that he can play as well as anybody I have seen this weekend. Though he only scored nine points in limited action in the win over Tulsa Hawks, Reynolds was unstoppable in his floor-time. Reynolds, a 6-foot-5, lengthy guard, can score in just about every way you can imagine from the permitter, and is no stranger on the defensive end of the floor either. He controls the ball well and is able to create his own shot at the rim, but is also very good without the ball, finding his way into holes in the defense and spotting up to knock down 3s. Defensively, his length allows him to keep ball-handlers in front of him and deny buckets.
Dalante Shannon 2021 Team Buddy Buckets wing (pictured above)
Buddy Buckets standout Dalante Shannon scored 15 points in a blowout match Saturday morning. Shannon did so by taking the ball to the rim, scoring in transition, and hitting the 3-pointer. Shannon’s speed, in comparison with the rest of the field was outstanding, and he dominated in the scoring column because of it. Shannon is an especially smart player, as well, and lets the flow of the game come to him rather than the alternative, allowing for him to be one of the most efficient players on the floor. He is selfless with the ball, a natural playmaker and knows when and how to attack. Shannon, additionally, can finish with either hand as well as anybody in the 16U bracket and is an explosive athlete.
