Levi Borchert – UW-Oshkosh
I don’t know if he’ll be a star in college, but Borchert is a kid you’d love to have on your roster and hate to be playing against. The defending Division 3 national champs plucked a top 25 prospect from nearby Kimberly. With Jack Flynn and Adam Fravert both graduating after next season, Borchert can get a year of experience behind two very productive post players and perhaps be ready to aid the rebuilding process on the interior.
Kaden Clark – UW-Stevens Point
While Oshkosh won the national championship last season, don’t forget that Stevens Point dropped the Titans by 20 points in the WIAC Tournament and won 18 games last season. With Nate Dodge, Drew Fredrickson, Canon O’Heron, and Mark Nelson all gone, the Pointers could use some immediate help from their freshman class. I don’t see a huge adjustment period needed for Clark, who’s 6-foot-4 and can knock down shots from anywhere on the floor.
Eli Considine – Wheaton College
I think Considine will be physically ready for college. His versatility at the guard/wing spot should also help his cause. Considine put up about 25 points per game in the Badger North as a senior. A strong and bouncy wing with a high motor, Considine is walking into a program that won 23 games and reached the Final Four last season.
Tyler Gouin – St. Norbert’s
St. Norbert’s has themselves a guard who could potentially star in perhaps any conference at the Division 3 level. The Arrowhead standout averaged a team-high 20.2 points per game as a senior while playing alongside Carter Gilmore, the fourth ranked prospect in the 2020 class. St. Norbert’s returns quite a bit next season, but Gouin is likely one of their bigger recruiting wins in recent memory and should help this program continue to elevate after they finished the 2018-19 season on quite the hot streak.
Chombi Lambert – UW-Whitewater
If his size doesn’t become too much of an issue, Lambert has star potential in the WIAC. He’s only about 5-foot-9, but Lambert was one of the most consistent scorers in the state over the last four years. A proven winner with a state championship under his belt, Lambert can play on and off the ball and is very difficult to track through screens. He’s got the speed off the dribble to create and get to the rim. Pat Miller and the Warhawks have been historically very guard friendly and should find ways for Lambert to be successful despite his lack of size.
Rocky Martinez – UW-Whitewater
Most can’t remember the last time the Warhawks had a losing season. Martinez should help continue their winning ways. Martinez does a great job of managing talent, making those around him better, and taking over in the big moments. The 6-foot-4 senior can play either guard spot effectively and also takes pride on the defensive end.
Samuel Meerstein – UW-Platteville
Meerstein put up 20.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game as a senior at Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran. His scoring ability is going to be a welcomed addition to the Pioneers, who had some trouble keeping pace with some of the better teams in Division 3 last season. In fact, Platteville was 0-7 when the opposition managed to hit the 80-point mark. The Pioneers will have a relatively young group next season, which could allow Meerstein to be an instant impact freshman.
Logan Mulhern – UW-Stevens Point
I’m willing to bet that Mulhern can find his way on the floor in a hurry at Stevens Point. Nobody is really sure what position Mulhern is best suited to play, but his scrappiness and willingness to get involved in just about any aspect of the game will pay huge dividends for the Pointers.
Austin Westra – UW La Crosse
The Eagles have the highest rated Division 3 prospect, according to the Prep Hoops Wisconsin rankings. Westra is a physically imposing player that can beat you up on the inside, but also has the perimeter skills to be a mismatch problem on the perimeter as well. Westra should help energize a program that has to replace its top three leading scorers from last season a form a nice frontcourt package with Terek Nesheim.
Luke Umnus – Wisconsin Lutheran
If the state tournament semifinal against Nicolet was any indication, Umnus isn’t going to be fazed anybody. That’ll come in handy as Unmus enters a Wisconsin Lutheran program that returns its top three guards from last season. He’ll also be joined by his brother, which should help ease the transition.
