The gyms were loaded with numerous teams, some of which included very talented prospects. In this article, Brandon Jenkins highlights a few of the prospects who stood out from the 2021 class:
Griffin Datcher IV – Small Forward – Nike JL3 Elite 16U (EYBL) – 2021
In the initial 2021 Player Rankings Analysis written in October, I mentioned how Griffin Datcher (Conroe Oak Ridge) has a chance to be a top ten prospect in the near future. Seven months later, and I still feel the exact same way. Datcher has an incredible college-ready body to go along with athleticism and touch out to the three. With consistent production and improvement, Datcher could establish himself as the best player in Houston for his class.
Jalen Lake – Shooting Guard– NikePro Skills 16U (EYBL) – 2021
Lake’s pedigree is undeniable coming from a basketball background. The 6-foot-3 guard has a quick and impeccable release on his jumpshot. The setting in which he shot the rock this weekend did not impact the result of the attempt. He proved his versatility as a shooter by making shots off catch and move.
Noah Robledo – Small Forward – Nike JL3 Elite 16U (EYBL) – 2021
Coming into his matchup, I stressed to those around me about how hard Robledo plays and the great lift he gets on his jumper. Man did he make me look great. The Leander forward was everywhere on the court. He played well inside, scoring off of offensive rebounds, and on the perimeter drilling in threes when his feet were set. Robledo’s performance in JL3’s blowout loss may have had enough of an impact on our staff to give him a slight boost in our next updated 2021 player rankings
