The gyms were loaded with numerous teams, some of which included very talented prospects. In this article, Brandon Jenkins continues to highlight a few of the prospects who stood out from the 2020 class:
Rubin Jones – Shooting Guard – Cooz Elite – 2020
Jones (Houston Yates) showed that he is just as effective without the ball in his hands as he is when handling it. He hit open spot-up long balls off the catch and made some terrific passes for easy scores inside. One part of Jones’ game that must become more consistent is his finishing ability inside. There were multiple times where he missed close bunnies off of penetration or transitional situations. Be that as it may, his activity on both ends is admired by college coaching staffs within the region. Specifically, North Texas and UTEP, being that those are his only offers at this point.
Micah Peavy – Small Forward – Nike Pro Skills (EYBL) – 2020
Peavy (Duncanville) has not missed a beat since his dominant performance at the UIL State Tournament. Outside of the damage he does in transition, Peavy is one who can torch opponents with his in-between game. The four-star wing has already taken on the challenge of becoming the go-to-guy during the high school postseason, now it will be exciting to watch him take on that same challenge against the best high school competition basketball has to offer.
Joey Madimba – Small Forward – Texas Legions – 2020
It was great to see Madimba on the court after a quiet junior season due to questionable coaching. He was another athlete who wanted all the smoke in each of his three games. The Mansfield Lake Ridge wing competed on defense, was a factor on the glass, and a beast in transition. He looks ready to pick back up where he left off from last summer. A summer where he collected offers from North Texas and UAB.
