Well this week, Frankie Collins, from Las Vegas, is doing just that.
The 6’1″ PG will transfer over to AZ Compass Prep from the well respected Clark HS in Nevada.
Coach Pete Kaffey and his assistant coaches will guide the rising junior.
AZ Compass Prep already has some top headliners with junior guards Jalin Anderson and Xavier Dusell plus super freshman Sadraque Nganga (#1 rated Prep Hoops AZ ranking). Collins will make all these players even better.
He is the quintessential pure PG always trying to set up his teammates. He is very strong at almost 180 lbs and gets downhill quickly. He is a ball hawk defensively and plays at a good pace. His passing separates him from many.
He currently holds offers from Kansas, Oklahoma, UNLV, UTEP, TCU, Eastern Washington, New Mexico and Columbia. With interest from Kentucky, Oregon, Arizona, ASU, UCLA, USC, Minnesota, Cal and Oregon State.
I asked him why he would move over here and his response was simple. “I want to compete against some of the best players in the country.”
He is trying to test his game to the fullest. He will get that chance on the prestigious Grind Session next fall.
Collins will immediately be put in the Top-10 of the 2021 rankings on the next go around and most likely be placed in the Top-5 or so.
