The pool of unsigned seniors in Florida, however, remains deep. Here is a look at some of the 2019s that should be making their decisions shortly:
ICYMI:
Issad Solano (SLAM Academy)
St. Thomas University offered Solano (pictured) last week and the 6-4 slasher is going on a visit to Western Nebraska next week. Solano has been offered by Miami Dade College and has an offer from FIU but as a member of the 2020 class. Kent State, Albany State and NC Asheville are showing high interest. “As of now he’s been in constant communication with a few low-major D-1 programs,” coach Thomas Roque said. The versatile Solano impacts the game in many ways.
AJ Cajuste (Oxbridge Academy)
The latest on Cajuste: “Prep school is an option for AJ,” Oxbridge coach Brandon Strassburger said this week. “I think he will visit DME Academy.” The 6-foot Cajuste, one of the top seniors in Palm Beach County in 2018-19, averaged 17.6 points, 4.6 assists and 3 steals for 25-1 Oxbridge. The Thunderwolves’ lone loss was a 70-62 verdict to Boca St. Andrew’s in regionals. Cajuste is a four-year starter. The speedy point guard is difficult to stay in front of. Cajuste does an excellent job setting the tempo.
Lee Flenor (South Miami)
The 6-7 power forward helped lead the Cobras to an appearance in the state final four in Lakeland. Flenor, who was offered by the previous regime at Stetson, just went on a visit to Augusta (Ga.) University. It appears to be down to Augusta, Central Florida CC and Eastern Florida. He averaged a double-double as a senior (12. 8 points, 12.0 rebounds). Flenor is rugged inside and tends to own the lane. Rebounds just seem to find him.
Ames Dixon (Booker T. Washington)
The 5-10 guard recently poured in 26 points — on 4-of-4 3-point shooting — to earn MVP honors at the South Florida All-Star Select Game at Florida Memorial University. “FMU offered me,” Dixon said. “I’m going through the administration paperwork. Have to get a good SAT score or ACT.” Dixon averaged 9 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds for the 18-4 Tornadoes. He was part of veteran guard court that brought experience to a sophomore-dominated front court.
De’Andre Morris (Royal Palm Beach)
Morris was named first-team All-County and first team All-District but has flown under the radar. The burly 6-4, 215-pounder guard is still looking for his first offer, according to coach Dion Griffin. Morris averaged 13.5 points and 6.3 rebounds in an extremely competitive Class 8A district with Forest Hill, Dwyer and Palm Beach Lakes.
