In fact, a few of Oregon’s best will be running this spring and summer with some out-of-state squads in their effort to obtain college exposure. Here’s a quick look at some of these top names and which teams they will be playing for in the upcoming months.
Nate Bittle (2021 Crater HS) – The state’s top-ranked player in the Class of 2021 played at the 16U level last year with West Coast Elite and will once again run with the California-based program this year. Bittle ended the 2018-19 season on a high at the 5A state tournament setting all-time records for blocked shots while also putting up some incredible numbers offensively. The sky seems to be the limit for the now 6-foot-11 sophomore as his recruitment continues to skyrocket into the blue blood range as Duke and Kentucky will be watching this spring and summer.
Guy Littlefield (2020 Forest Grove HS) – Littlefield is a dynamic point guard who is blessed with a strong mature body already as a junior. His play was a big reason behind Forest Grove’s success this year in making the post-season and his ability to penetrate and create for himself and others helped earn him First Team All-league honors. Littlefield does need to continue working on his jumpshot and he’ll be doing that on the PrepHoops Circuit with Hard 2 Guard, which is based out of Las Vegas.
Wayne McKinney (2021 Lake Oswego HS) – Another top-ranked Class of 2021 standout who’s playing out-of-state in California is McKinney, who will once again run with the Coastal Elite Slayers which is based out of San Diego, where his family’s summer home is located. The athletic 5-foot-10 point guard continued to make strides with his game his sophomore season at Lake Oswego and as he hones his jump shot and decision making, more and more scholarship offers should come his way.
Justin Scoggin (2020 West Salem HS) – Scoggin was the sole varsity returnee this past year at West Salem and after serving more of a role as a sophomore, he put up some big time offensive numbers for the Titans. The combo guard has played in-state for club basketball up to this point in his career but this AAU season he’ll be running with California Select out of the San Diego area, which will start the year on the adidas Gauntlet silver series.
Jett Sheng (2020 Catlin Gabel HS) – You may see Sheng working out locally with teams such as Maeko, Oregon Basketball Club, or Team PUSH as he has connections with the coaches and players with each of those programs. Sheng even played with Maeko this past weekend in Salem. But this spring and summer, the 5-foot-10 point guard will be running with Chase Young’s Seattle Select High Academic, which should fit his goals for basketball and school. Sheng has already been in contact with a number of Division III schools up and down the West Coast.
Koby Williamson (2020 Santiam Christian HS) – The 6-foot-9 forward/post has been coming into his own the past couple of seasons at Santiam Christian. A coach’s son, Williamson has the ability to stretch the floor with his perimeter shooting. He had been looking at playing with a team in-state but decided to head down to California to run with adidas team California Select, where he will be paired with fellow Oregonian Scoggin.
