Almost all of the below names are non-Ohio players but all of them impressed me at some point during the games. Here are my top 10th/11th grade performers from Sunday.
Kale Gaither (2021) Henderson County- Louisville Magic
Gaither impressed me with his backcourt play. He distributed the basketball extremely well making unselfish plays throughout the day. A quick guard that looks to push the tempo on the offensive end, Gaither got out in transition and allowed his teammates to score the basketball on the fast break. Kale is a guard to watch in the future.
Alijah Watts (2021) Hopkinsville- Louisville Magic
Watts got it done on both ends of the floor in their win Sunday. Defensively, he excelled as a perimeter defender, guarding the ball well and moving his feet laterally. Offensively, he showed great patience for a sophomore in the half court. Even though he played with patience, Alijah was tremendous on the glass and demonstrated great athleticism for a guard.
Alex Afari (2022) Lakota West- H Brand Basketball
H Brand’s top guy is a long and lengthy small forward with great hustle. An offensive weapon, Alex uses his size to get to the rim and plays with tremendous passion on both ends of the floor.
Zaire Monroe (2022) Lloyd Memorial- Kentucky Defenders
Monroe is a scrappy guard, having a great offensive game. He elevates on the offensive end especially on the dribble drive. The very young guard was able to get shots up among the height in the paint in the Defenders game against Shining Star s Sunday. He has a pretty high ceiling and could be a name to watch in the future.
