Throughout this week, we’ll be breaking down the standouts from the guard, wing and forward positions.
Josh Odunowo | 6’6 | Team BBC Select ’19
Odunowo is still transitioning into becoming a full-time wing player. While his offensive package still isn’t perimeter oriented, his motor and length make him an impact on both ends. He was aggressive crashing the glass offensively and earned plenty of second-chance looks for both him and his team. Defensively, he moved laterally well enough to stay in front of quicker wing players while being a rim protector in the paint.
Eric Sondberg | 6’6 | Team Durant ’20
Sondberg has a chance to play a meaninful role on this Team Durant squad because of all that he can offer as a shooter. Durant has plenty of players who can mix it up well offensively, but they don’t have a wing player who can really get it going from three. Sondberg had plenty of bright moments filling that role.
Tomiwa Sulaiman | 6’6 | Team BBC Select
Sulaiman is a very interesting prospect due to his combination of versatility and strength. When you look at his stature, you’d think he was more of a forward, but with his ability to stretch the floor and an improved game off the dribble, Sulaiman is a wing that will catch many college programs attention. Throughout this event, Sulaiman guarded positions 3-5 and held his own in each respective match-up. While he cashed in on a couple of his outside attempts, he did a nice job attacking the rim and drawing fouls.
Cor’Trey Fontaine | 6’6 | Team Hardwork
Fontaine has a lot of freedom on his team to showcase his game. At 6-foot-6 with good length, Fontaine can grab rebounds and push the ball up the floor himself and make plays in the open floor. In the half court, you won’t see him settle much for jumpers. Instead, he attacks off the dribble or finds openings by moving without the ball to get easy looks. Defensively, he anticipates well in the passing lanes and uses his length to get his hands on loose balls to cause turnovers.
