Benson battled through cramping the whole second half of the game against the Crossfire Slagter 17u team but came up big with two huge free throws to seal the game. He was a huge force down low as he was able to use his body to get to the rim against the smaller defenders. Benson also used his physical presence on the defensive side to shut down the offender.
Jaiden Wright, 6-1 G (ECU 17u Selects)
The Dickinson high junior was a pest on the defensive side and was quick with his hands to disrupt the offensive player’s dribble. He had a huge steal late in ECI’s win over Crossfire Slagter 17u on Saturday morning. He was able to use his quickness to help on defense and force the huge turnover for the win.
Nicholas Olson, 5-11 G (Crossfire Slagter 17u)
Olson used his quickness and exceptional ball handling skills to break down his defender just about every time on the offensive side of the ball. He was able to suck the defense into either pass it out for an open shot, dump it down or convert the easy layup for two points.
Eric Peterson, 6-4 F (Crossfire Slagter 17u)
Peterson was able to stretch the defense out with his shooting ability and then would pump fake and have the ability to drive and finish at the rim against contact. He had great basketball IQ on both sides of the ball and was able to help his team on both sides of the court.
Sam Ward, 5-10 G (Pentagon Schoolers 17U)
An experienced guard, Ward is deadly from deep. He was one of the leading scorers for Vermillion last season and brought the team energy and toughness. He is able to get inside the heart of the defense and either score or give it off to a teammate for the easy deuce.
