Others remain unsigned, and several top-ranked players from the Class of 2019 were playing at The Hoop Madness Spring Showcase this past weekend.
Here’s a look at how those unsigned seniors did.
#6 – Keylin Vance (2019 Jefferson) – The highest-ranked unsigned senior in the state, Vance showed up on Day Two and ran with Hoop Salem Select. In his first game against ML20, the scoring guard was getting it done offensively from three and on athletic scoring drives to the basket, getting many of his points in transition. Vance noted that he’s still looking for the right national JUCO offer and will be running with International Elite the rest of the spring.
#15 – Drayton Caolie (2019 West Linn) – Caolie hasn’t played since mid-season but he looked fairly sharp at the event. The point guard had tight handles and not only hit some open threes but also took it strong to the basket where he drew his share of fouls. To be honest, Caolie looked as good playing as he did during the year for West Linn. Still open to all options, the senior does have a prep school possibility and we’ll have an update posted on him soon.
#24 – Jonathon Nchekwube (2019 Jefferson) – Nchekwube only played on the second day and laced up with Hoop Salem’s select team which was comprised of some unsigned seniors and other juniors. In the game we watched against ML20, he played some inspired basketball and did his best to battle ML20’s athletic big men in the paint – and he held his own. Rebounding and defense is what Nchekwube will be doing at the college level, for which he currently holds an offer from Colorado Mesa.
#27 – Joey Rodrick (2019 Cleveland) – Rodrick only ran with the Hoop Select Seniors squad for one game but it was a good one as he piled up 40 points in impressive fashion. The senior is a talented scorer and the consensus is that once he physically develops and gets more experience he will be really good in a couple of years. Rodrick is still making a number of campus visits, recently visiting Humboldt State and will be visiting Simon Fraser, Southern Oregon, and Chico State in the near future.
#59 – Logan Pruitt (2019 Pleasant Hill) – Pruitt noted that he was shaking off of rust as he’s been busy with school and work since the season ended, but he started finding a groove as the event progressed. At 6-foot-5 he remains an undersized post player but he was able to create down low and also spot up for a few mid-range jumpers. Pruitt remains open but said his likely destination may be Linn-Benton.
#72 – Lukas Findley (2019 Dayton) – Findley is reportedly going to be running with Deep III this spring but showed up to play with one of the Team Jones squads. The lefty combo guard shot it fairly well from deep and was aggressive in creating off of the dribble and finishing near the basket.
#NR – Jaysen Howard (2019 Dayton) – Howard ran with one of the Team Jones squads and at 6-foot-6, served as the main post man. He’s long and lanky but showed the ability to get good post position and had a number of solid moves to get himself free for shots. Howard noted that he’s hearing the most from Corban right now and an upcoming visit may give him some more information is there is a scholarship opportunity.
#NR – Tyler Logsdon (2019 McMinnville) – Logsdon ran with one of the Team Jones squads and for one game in bracket play, actually switched to play with Hoop Salem as they were short a player. The senior checks in at 6-foot-6 but his game is definitely more about shooting perimeter jumpers than playing inside. He shot the ball fairly well from three-point range during the games that we saw. Logsdon noted that he’s still keeping his options open but that Chemeketa is looking as a likely destination.
