Spring Kickoff: 15U players to watch on Saturday
Below is a list of players I believe are worthy to watch Saturday in Denver, Colorado based on their play from Friday evening. Players listed are restricted to players I was able to watch Friday, exclusively:
David Burnett 2022 Utah Force wing
- Shooter
- Game-changer
- Scorer
Though he didn’t have stature on his side, 5-foot-5-inch David Burnett had pinpoint accuracy and a pair of hot hands Friday evening. He was a tremendous player to guard out of the catch, and was the center of attention near the end of the first half as he became a one-man show as he knocked down three unanswered threes to activate a personal 9-0 run. Burnett stood alone as the shooter of the night on Friday and has a chance to make another great impact on Saturday.
Tayshaun Tramel 2023 Utah Force point guard
- Playmaker
- Floor general
- Ball-handler
Tayshaun Tramel has a tremendous package of handles and is one of the most honed, practiced ball-handlers I have seen at his age. Playing up a class, Tramel didn’t disappoint, but rather far-exceeded my expectations on Friday night as he tore through defenses to get to the rim or dish the ball to teammates. Tramel will have the opportunity to turn some heads on Saturday with his all-around offensive game.
Tyrele Wake 2022 Colorado Miners Black point guard
- Floor general
- Passer
- Tough
Tyrele Wake was dealing on Friday night. With elite handles, the ability to create his own shot, great on-ball defensive skills, and passing abilities, Wake is one of the most complete, all-around players in this division. At 5-foot-7-inches, Wake exemplified heart of height as he was impassible to defenders trying to get a handle on him. If his 3-ball can fall in place, he’ll be one of the best prospects in the gym on Saturday.
Luke Hutto 2022 West Slope Point forward
- Crafty
- Versatile
- Athletic post
Luke Hutto was like-unstoppable in his Friday night matchup as West Slope dominated its competition by over 20 points. Hutto has unmatched footwork in the paint and can get separation in the paint, but can also finish the gritty shot when he needs to as well. He’s great with both hands and has almost guard-like craftiness at the rim as he can finish the shot on the reverse. Most impressively was his ability to almost decimate opposing forwards and take them out of the play altogether with his footwork.
