Spring Combine Recaptures: Colton Phillips
Colton Phillips attended his second PrepHoopsTN Combine and earned his way onto his first All-Star Team. Phillips played middle school basketball this winter for Middle Tennessee Christian School, better known as MTCS. Together they won the AA James C. Haile State Championship.
Colton carried that confidence over to the combine and outperformed his previous showing.

Colton grew from 5-foot-8 in late September to 5-foot-10 in late February. His longer legs actually maintained quickness.
- The vertical explosion of Colton Phillips improved from 20.5″ to 23.0″ in the short time. The wingspan measurement seems incorrect, as Colton measured a 5-foot-9 in wingspan back in September. It would be scientifically relevant if his wingspan shrunk, so perhaps that newest mark is operator error. Colton Phillips is very interested in the game and you can watch his player interview here.
- Phillips will enter high school with a realistic chance to play point guard. He has decent change of direction and a basic understanding of offensive flow and options. Phillips’ game is not specifically pass-first or scorer’s mentality. He can do both or either.
- Notable skills that Colton Phillips has are: feel for the game, mid-range shooting, shot mechanics. He needs to improve: elite ball-handling skills, lateral quickness, finishing through contact.
- Colton is a guard to keep an eye on as his recent improvement indicates.
