Spring Combine Recapture: Kobe Tibbs
Quiet vocally, Kobe Tibbs glides around the deck with coiled athleticism ready to spring. His muscular body helps him finish with assertiveness in the lane. Outside shooting is average with potential for growth and defense really looks to be a bankable asset longterm.

Nobody jumped more than 28 inches vertically and Kobe Tibbs recorded a strong 27″ vertical while standing 6-foot-1. Tibbs’ agility and bounce were different. He scooted around the lane under 12 seconds twice (11.19, 11.14). Tibbs wears size 13 shoes and boasts a wingspan of 6’7″, so he might still be growing. Even if he does not he projects as a scoring point guard in time.
Kobe Tibbs entered the Spring Combine ranked #44 in the state.
Tibbs ran with RSD 15u last summer and will again suit up with RSD and father Marcus Tibbs. Kobe earned his way onto the All-Star Team with his dribbling and physicality and yet his All-Star Game play vaulted him into the top 10 players (#7 specifically). Tibbs was a top 5 athlete on the day and outside of Malik Dia should be the most physically ready to compete beyond high school.
With his natural strength and apparent toughness Kobe Tibbs needs to be an elite defender. Plugging those attributes in to the right mental socket is necessary as Kobe will take an occasional play off defensively. This doesn’t prevent him from giving a staggeringly stifling effort the next time out.
A fundamentally sound scorer, Kobe should score in double figures as a varsity starter by next winter. He can create quality shots for himself and excels on the fastbreak. Perhaps more than any other camper Kobe Tibbs possesses a tremendous feel for the game.
Kobe Tibbs is one to watch in the Class of 2021.
