Spring Combine Recapture: Isiah Lightsy
Siegel High School varsity member Isiah Lightsy entered the PrepHoopsTN Spring Combine ranked #70 in the state of Tennessee. His previous evaluations took place during EAB 15u summer season of 2018.
This event Lightsy showed off many of the same attributes and added a couple new wrinkles.

Isiah is a skilled mid-range shooter. With EAB 15u last summer Isiah showed he could hit the outside shot too, but too often teammates glance past him when he is open. This is an odd criticism, but Lightsy tends to look extremely casual and even disinterested facially. He doesn’t play relaxed or checked out. Perhaps, he can over-accentuate the ‘I’m open!’ face.
Isiah Lightsy is nimble enough to be a slasher/shooter dual-threat. At this stage of his development he doesn’t attack the basket often enough. There is some natural strength in his upper body, but Lightsy lets defenders off easy by generally drifting from shooting spot to shooting spot.
If Lightsy intends to be a specializing shooter, then he needs to make sharper cuts without the basketball. Again, he can hit those shots, but somehow must inspire teammates to feed him more often.
The lane agility times are encouraging and 11.30 is one of the faster times of the event.
Siegel put together a very strong season with help from a couple of sophomores (Zion Swader, Matthew Schneider). Expect Isiah to join them in the lineup next winter. It should be a goal of his, and judging by his skills and gradual improvements it can happen.
