While some are hooking up with AAU squads to play this spring, there are others who are taking visits and narrowing things down as we speak. We tried to catch up with many of the top ranked unsigned seniors in the PrepHoops Oregon rankings and here’s a quick look at where they stand with their college recruitment.
#4 Isaac Lange (2019 Thurston) – Lange is likely going the junior college route, but the question will be will it be close to home or further away. He continues to hold an offer from Lane but has not yet signed. He will be visiting a national JC in Colby Community College in Kansas this weekend.
#6 Keylin Vance (2019 Jefferson) – Vance’s goal is to sign with a national junior college program and has remained in contact with a few, most notably College of Southern Idaho. He is playing out this spring on the AAU circuit with International Elite to give coaches a final look, and got started playing last weekend with a Hoop Salem squad.
#11 RJ Veliz (2019 Woodburn) – Veliz is currently on a visit to Colorado Mesa and is looking at visiting Lewis-Clark State in the next couple of weeks. He notes that he is getting hit hard by a number of Division II schools and he expect things to start getting clearer with his recruitment soon.
#14 Brock Henry (2019 Southridge) – Henry maintains an offer from Lewis-Clark State but has not been able to make an official visit to campus yet. He is currently planning on playing this spring with Oregon Basketball club, which runs for the first time this weekend at the Hoop Summit tournament.
#18 Dominic McGarvey (2019 Sheldon) – McGarvey recently decided to stay close to home to begin his college career and sign with Lane CC.
#22 Collin Warmouth (2019 Roseburg) – Warmouth holds an offer from Chaminade but is also getting recruited by Western Oregon and he will be visiting the Wolves this Thursday where he very well may receive a scholarship offer.
#24 Jonathon Nchekwube (2019 Jefferson) – Nchekwube holds an offer from Colorado Mesa, but is playing this spring with Hoop Salem. He’s already shown up at the two Hoop Salem tournaments thus far.
#27 Joey Rodrick (2019 Cleveland) – Rodrick has an offer in the works from Humboldt State and he is planning to visit both Simon Fraser and Chico State in the upcoming weeks. He is currently playing with a Hoop Salem Unsigned Seniors squad and has performed well these past two weekends with the general consensus from college coaches that he will be very good in two years once his body fills out.
#33 Grant Webster (2019 Marshfield) – Webster had been getting some Division III and NWAC looks but recently decided that he will attend the University of Oregon as a regular student.
#37 Braden Thorn (2019 Sherwood) – Thorn is a talented baseball player who has gotten off to a good start on the diamond for Sherwood. He is still pursuing both basketball and baseball at the Division III level and is actively talking to Puget Sound, Pacific, Pacific Lutheran, and Linfield and will wait on making any decisions until after the season has concluded.
#38 Jace Norton (2019 LaSalle) – Norton has been in contact with a number of schools including Clark CC and is hoping to latch on with one of the in-state NAIA schools. He had previously been talking with Division II Belmont Abbey but the package didn’t quite work out.
#40 Alex Jaczko (2019 Newberg) – Jaczko was previously a heavy lean toward Cal Lutheran but he indicates that Linfield is back in the future. He has a spot waiting for him at both programs and a lot of his decision will depend on the financial package from each school.
#56 Caden Dickson (2019 Tualatin) – Dickson is playing with a Hoop Salem unsigned seniors squad but told us that he’s been admitted to BYU and his plan is to walk-on to the basketball team.
“It’s something I’m striving for and will be working on this off-season to hopefully get a shot in the fall,” Dickson said. “I’m excited.”
