Richmond will be playing AAU ball as an unsigned senior, but as he laces up his shoes he’s also in talks with a couple of schools who have shown recent interest in adding him to their rosters.
“I’m talking to the head coaches at Humboldt State and Cal State San Marcos right now,” Richmond said. “I’m most likely going to take my visits to both schools really soon. Both are really good – they’re both in California and I wanted to go in California in the beginning so that’s a plus. The coaches seem really chill and just seeing the campuses from pictures look dope from both schools.”
Richmond got in touch with both programs after he and his AAU coach emailed them his film and both replied with interest. He’s hoping to visit one school this month and one next with the hopes of signing before the end of May.
Until then, Richmond is suiting up one more time on the AAU circuit – this year with Deep III where he helped lead the team to a runner-up finish at the Portland Classic.
“It was our first time playing with each other, so we weren’t used to what we like to do on the court,” Richmond said. “But as more time we play with each other and figure out what we do best and the chemistry we have to build, we’ll be a very solid team. We’re a quick, fast, athletic team that loves to get up and down so we’re going to be cool.”
Richmond currently ranks as the #21 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings.
