Mike Trigg made a major statement at the Boys State Basketball Tournament in Lakeland last month.

Trigg, just a sophomore, led Seffner Christian (25-7) to the Class 4A state championship game. In the 77-73 loss to three-time state champion Westminster Academy, Trigg went off for 33 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

He would shoot 10 of 17 from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point land, and nail 10 of 11 free throws.

Now he heads into the spring and summer looking to take the next step with the Florida Vipers 16s on the Under Armour Association circuit. Trigg was close to unstoppable last weekend in a scrimmage against South Florida Elite. He put up close to 40 points in the game.

The 6-foot-3 guard has already earned a scholarship offer from the University of South Florida and he is getting interest from Florida Atlantic.

Asked what makes him tick on the court, Trigg said: "I think I’m a pretty good defender. I rebound the ball exceptionally well. I’m a two-way player -- I can play offense to defense and I’m a great teammate."
