Schloe, a 6-foot-7 forward from Sauk Rapids-Rice, is one of the really talented bigs playing for DLR this summer and his style of play is conducive to success especially on a team stocked full of talented shooters and scorers.
“I think I play with aggressiveness that others don’t bring all the time,” Schloe said. “I try to bring energy to the game at all times. I think my basketball IQ is my biggest strength. I need to work on the finesse part of my game.”
Schloe plays with a hot motor down low and has the strength and athleticism to be a real force in the paint. He plays a low-maintenance kind of game which blends in nicely on this team. He sets picks, he finishes and defends in traffic and plays with physicality.
“I think I’ve played pretty well,” said Schloe. “It’s great competition in these tournaments and you get to play against a ton of really good players in every game. We have a really talented team. As the season goes on, we should get even better. I think my role is to help open up the court. Running the rim hard. Post touches and kicking it out to guys.”
Schloe was productive as a junior at Sauk Rapids-Rice but the Storm had a down year after going to state. Those team struggles may have hampered some of his recruitment and kept him under the radar to this point. But he’ll have a big opportunity this summer to earn some attention.
“That’s always the goal is to play at the next level,” Schloe said. “I’ve been contacted by a few here and there but nothing really ongoing. Some invitations to camps at this point but hoping to play well this summer and draw some more interest.”
