The 5’11”, 190-pounder also averaged 4.6 APG, 4.6 SPG and 2.3 SPG as Bayshore Christian (24-4) captured the Class 2A-District 4 title. He added a season-best 27 points on two different occasions. Wicks did all of this after missing his entire sophomore year due to injury.
“My junior season for Bayshore Christian School was successful and rewarding. I was one of three captains. I was selected for the All-Tournament team in my Christmas Tournament at Saint Stephens Episcopal School,” Wicks told Prep Hoops. “I saw the most growth in my ability to be a leader for my teammates and being a game changer when we were down.”
No offers have come yet for Wicks, but he’s drawn interest from Palm Beach Atlantic, Florida College and Central Florida College.
This summer, he is playing for PHS under coach Holmes and coach Jack. He says it has helped him develop his point guard skills further and prepare him for his senior campaign.
In terms of what he says separates himself from others, Wicks had this to say.
“I can score at will, make my teammates better, rebound very well at my height and lock up on the defensive end,” he said.
Wicks says he is working to improve mid-range pull-up.
A hard working young man, Wicks is always looking for the quick pass up the court or the tough finish at the cup. He’s a playmaker who is strong and uses his high IQ to his full advantage. A Divison II/Division III or NAIA program needs to give this kid a longer look. He is consistent and always seems to score at will and lead his team night in and night out.
