This long and angular guard has easy acceleration with the ball in his hands. He scored on acrobatic layups at the cup. Nifty finisher at the rim. Likes floaters and runners over bigger defenders. Sound distributor including a sweet wrap around pass for a dime. During the first session of Under Armour Association he averaged 21.8 points per game while shooting 50% from the field and 43% from three. Also chipped in 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 dimes per contest.
Thompson spoke about his junior year where he accomplished about everything he could have!
“It went amazing. It was everything I could ask for. We won it all with a state championship. I was the Gatorade Player of the Year and Tournament of Champions MVP. Overall it was a good year.”
What areas did he see improvements over the last year?
“Getting my teammates open, finishing around the basket, being stronger, and making free throws.”
Thompson is running with Oklahoma PWP on the UAA circuit this spring.
“Just looking forward to getting better and seeing what I need to work on. There are a lot of good players out here so you will see what you need to get better at and work on. Ultimately be good at the college level.”
How is the recruiting process going?
“It is going good. I am talking to coaches day in and day out. I am enjoying the process.”
Thompson listed the schools that have offered him.
“Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Colorado, TCU.”
He has already been to quite a few of those programs to check out their schools.
“I have taken visits to OU, OSU, Kansas, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Colorado, and Iowa.”
What is the next step in the process for Thompson?
“Waiting it out. I may cut it down after this AAU season. I am not sure quite yet.”
