Here Prep Hoops takes a look at several wings who have raised their profile and moved into the Prep Hoops rankings for the first time.
Dakari Middleton, 6’3, G/F, 2020, Free State
Unranked to 20
Middleton is an athletic wing player that plays much bigger than his listed 6’3 height. He can handle it a little on the perimeter, battles bigger players in the paint at the defensive end and at the offensive end of the floor, Middleton loves to shoot out of the corners.
Jaxon Pillich, G, 2020, Wichita Heights
Unranked to 21
Pillich can put points on the board in a hurry and is very athletic, a trait that benefits him on both sides of the ball. He has terrific With handles and has the ability to finish above the rim,
Thomas King, 6’4, G, 2020, Campus, NLHA 16U Gaddis
Unranked to 22
King features a well-rounded skill set and terrific athleticism. He handles it well, can create off the bounce a little and runs the floor exceptionally well in transition. King has the ability to play above the rim and throw down slams in transition, rebounds well and has a good combination of skill, size and athleticism.
Ty Shelley, 6’4, G/F, 2020, KC Piper
Unranked to 42
Shelley has good size, agility and length for an off-the-ball shooter typer. He moves well off the ball, helps spread the floor with his outside shooting touch and brings other skills to the table as well, able to defend, rebound and move the ball.
Isaiah Gavin, 6’5, G/F, St. Thomas Aquinas
Unranked to 56
A long, rangy wing with good athleticism, Gavin runs the floor well and has a good feel for passing the ball and playing in transition. He is at his best at the defensive end where he is capable of defending multiple positions thanks to a long frame and quick feet. At the offensive end of the floor, Gavin lets the game come to him and does a lot of dirty work in the plaint, cleaning up misses and staying active on the baseline.
