Here Prep Hoops takes a look at several wing players who have raised their profile.
Trey Quartlebaum. 6’2, PG, 2019, Lawrence
A strong, athletic guard, Quartlebaum came into his own this season for Lawrence as he put together a strong senior season. He has good size, can get to the basket, lead a team or knock down outside shots. He plays with a high basketball IQ and seems to always make the right play. Quartlebaum has signed to play at NCAA Division I St Francis Brooklyn.
Trey Sides, 6’1, G, 2019, Phillipsburg
After a strong summer with Western Kansas Elite, Sides rose up the charts in our latest rankings update and continued to rise into the 2019 Top 10 after earning a Division I scholarship from Jacksonville. He has good all-around athleticism, court vision and the ability to knock down outside shots.
Trey Bates, 6’1, PG, 2019, KC Piper
Bates is one of the biggest risers in the 2019 rankings as he has climbed into the top 10 after a big season for KC Piper. He has the ability to handle the ball, runs the point, can knock down outside shots, gets to the basket and makes play, Bates is also a tough, competitive defensive player who gets into opponents and disrupts plays all over the court.
John Pfannenstiel, 6’1, G, Ness City
Pfannenstiel went from being un-ranked to nearly entering the top 50 players in the state. He is coming off a terrific all-around senior season in which he showed leadership abilities and scored when his team needed a clutch basket.
Carson Pracht, 6’0, G, 2019, Bishop Carroll
Pracht helped lead Bishop Carroll to the Kansas 5A state championships in Emporia and impressed with his strong, all-around floor game and leadership. He showed the ability to consistently knock down shots, handle the ball and was a crafty all-around scorer.
