On Saturday afternoon, he announced where was signing to play college basketball for the 2019-20 school year. Catch what he had to say about his decision.
Q: The finish line is finally near, now that it’s finally arrived, where will you be attending college? And why?
Caleb Burgess: I will be attending Hofstra University next season because it’s a great up and coming program that won 25+ games this past season. They really have everybody returning that can allow me to be successful. I really connected with their coaching staff and the players really like Speedy Claxton, which was probably the biggest reason. He played my position at the highest level for a long time.
Recruitment really picked up this past season at the mid-major level, talk about that whole process.
CB: Everybody took notice after my game against Oak Hill Academy and I just kept building on it. I heard from some high major schools and a lot of mid-major schools since then. I knew I want to go Division 1, but I wanted to go to a school where I could have an instant impact at.
How did being at Moravian Prep this past season prepare you for the next level?
CB: Moravian Prep was big in preparing me for the next level. Being there helped me work on my shooting and improving my body which was big for me. It was a place that put me on the stage to showcase what I could do.
What’s your biggest goal at the next level?
CB: Well for me, I would like first or second team All-CAA and make a run at the Rookie of the Year award. Being able to build on that is something that I feel like I’m capable of.
When will you enroll at your future school?
CB: I’m trying to enroll as early as possible in the summer for workouts.
Burgess sounds anxious to get started. Look for him to make a splash next season with the Hofstra Pride.
