A versatile 6’7″ wing player, Jones has grown several inches since entering his school and that has helped him develop into one of the top players in the Public High League during the season. He came to Gateway STEM as a 5’9″ freshman, but he will leave after next season with a collegiate scholarship.
“It’s been amazing,” Jones said. “I never thought I would grow this much in such a short amount of time. It has helped my overall game and my confidence. I’m bigger, but I still have guard skills and now I have length.”
As a junior, Jones displayed his overall game on both ends as he averaged 15 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 3.2 blocks a game.
Jones had one of his biggest games in the district tournament when he had 28 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks against a very talented Confluence Academy team in the semifinals. He also had 24 points and 12 rebounds against a talented St. Louis Christian team and 21 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks against Class 5 power Webster Groves.
Jones has been running with the Team Ramey CCM 17U squad during the grassroots season. He is looking forward to increasing his profile while playing on a team with several top players from St. Louis.
“This is a great opportunity to play with a lot of other good players,” he said. “It is a chance for me to prove myself.”
