Prospect Update: Andre Brandon (2020)
Iowa City Liberty forward Andre Brandon has continued to solidify himself as one of the state’s most intriguing prospects.
It’s size and versatility that makes the 6-foot-5 junior one of the state’s highest-ranked 2020 prospects. He’s comfortable right now dominating in the paint, and has been working to diversify a perimeter skill-set.
“I’ve been working on handling the ball better and my post moves, also my shooting. I’ve also been working on being able to guard all positions,” said Brandon. “Right now, I feel more comfortable as a post scorer, and I’m hoping to get better on the wing and start driving and pulling up.”
With Liberty this season, Brandon continued to turn heads while going for 14.4 points per game on 52 percent shooting, he also pulled down 8.3 boards per game and was a primary leader.
“My role was to lead the team in practices and on the court. Just to make sure the other guys do their part and have confidence in themselves,” said Brandon.
Brandon was slated to play with Iowa Barnstormers this spring and summer but injured himself in practice earlier this month, suffering an Achilles tear. He’ll miss his entire 17U season as a result.
As of right now, he says Northwest Missouri State has reached out to him.
