Mpoyo is a versatile 6-foot-4 wing who manages to play multiple positions and prides himself on the fact that he can do a little bit of everything to help his team.
“I feel like I’m a very versatile player, I can play one through four, I can handle it, I can shoot it. If a coach asks me to play big I feel like I can make an impact on the boards. I feel like I’m a guy that can score when I need to and also get teammates involved,” said Mpoyo
“The main thing I’m focusing on is my athelkticm, my ball-handling and my quickness. And I would say my shooting consistency, I need to work on that also.”
Mpoyo played off the bench his sophomore season at Meridian, and is eager to play a much larger role in the next two years.
“My role was to play defense and hustle, and I gave it my all every time I played,” he said. “Next year I’ll have a much bigger role since we’ll be losing some good players.”
In the meantime, Mpoyo has the opportunity to play on the adidas Gauntlet Gold with ML20 16U this spring and summer.
He’s hoping to put himself on the map.
“My goal this spring is to pick up some offers and get more noticed, I feel like no one really knows what I can do on the floor,“ said Mpoyo. “This summer, I’m trying to at least catch some coaches eyes, and at least get on their radar.”
