He pridefully anchored a traditionally aggressive DBC defense this past weekend at Spooky Nook, where we decided to take a couple of minutes to get to know him better.
PH: What’s your playing background?
GT: “My first AAU team was called Damascus. It wasn’t competitive. Then I went to Lakeland Middle School. Then I transferred to Covenant Life my eighth grade year. It’s a little private school in Gaithersburg, Maryland.”
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your overall game?
GT: “I’m going to give you all I got. I’m going to help alter shots, and I’m going to be a presence down low.”
PH: How would you evaluate your team’s performances so far in this tournament?
GT: “This is our first real tournament. Most of us are new to each other, so we’ve just been bonding and working hard.”
PH: How do you define your role on this team?
GT: “I call myself a leader. Like I said, I’m going to hustle and give everything I’ve got.”
PH: What’s the most improved part of your game in recent months?
GT: “Probably my physicality, and my hustle.”
PH: How’d you improve your physicality?
GT: “Just getting in the gym.”
PH: What’s an underrated part of your overall game?
GT: “Just my hustle, and my presence overall.”
PH: What are you working on?
GT: “Right now, my shooting and ball-handling.”
PH: What’s your GPA?
GT: “Cumulative is a 3.0, and right now a 3.2.”
PH: Who do you model your game after?
GT: “I just pick and choose parts I like from everyone’s game.”
PH: What are your goals?
GT: “To play professionally.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
GT: “Hustle. I’m going to work hard, and I’m going to be a presence down low.”
