He’s a 6’2” shooting guard from Laingsburg High School and is playing grassroots basketball with Mid Michigan Elite.
Hawes is an impressive prospect. He’s a shooter at heart, that can bury a jumper off the dribble or a catch and shoot. Hawes has great change of speed ability that leaves defenders grasping. He can get to the bucket and finish or pull up for a mid range jumper. Hawes can be put in isolation, break down his defender, and create his own shot.
Gabe Hawes has the experience and the desire to improve needed to be an excellent basketball player. Right now, he’s working to improve his ball handling. He wants to get his dribbling quickness to another level in order to be prepared for the college game. Hawes is an experienced player who will be put on big stages during grassroots season. He is looking forward to going to Minnesota for the Prep Hoops Circuit Hard Work Finals in July.
Hawes has a lot to offer a program at the next level. He’d provide a leader and an athlete that will never be outworked. Hawes will give a college coach a dedicated athlete that will do whatever it takes to be successful and to see his team win. He has received interest from Albion and Indiana Wesleyan.
Gabe Hawes is driven by his goals. Next high school season, he wants to win the conference and district titles, then compete for a regional championship. He has his sights set on a future as a college basketball player. After college, Hawes would like to play over seas or run camps. Off the court, he wants to graduate from college with a degree in technical engineering.
As the spring and summer seasons move on, we should expect Gabe Hawes’ recruitment to pick up steam. College coaches will definitely want to take a look.
“My greatest motivation has always been my family. Being the oldest of four siblings, I’ve always tried to hold myself to a higher standard in life and setting a good example for them has always been a focal point in my life. I want to show them how constant hard work and consistent dedication can pay off. Being more than just an athlete, a role model for my younger siblings, has always been important and a great motivation to keep myself working hard and being the best I can be.” – Gabe Hawes
