The smooth 6-foot-3, 175-pound shooting guard from Stadium High School does so in many different ways and he was able to show off his stuff with his Team Bradley squad this past weekend at the City of Roses Live tournament in Portland. While the team ended up bowing out in the event before the final game, Irvin got a chance to show his stuff and he’s hoping it will translate into some college opportunities.
“The spring has been going good,” Irvin said. “We’re getting buckets as we move the ball a lot and we haven’t lost a lot of games. All of our wins have come off of teamwork. I’ve been getting my buckets – I could be better on defense, but that’s about it.”
Irvin showed the ability to flat out put the biscuit in the basket all weekend long. He spotted up for catch and shoot threes, nailed one-two dribble pull-ups, or took it strong to the hole. He continues to hone his craft this AAU season. “This spring I’m working on attacking my left side, some pull-ups, and trying to get some put-back dunks in,” Irvin said. “But besides that, I need to keep on doing my thing.”
Irvin is still operating a bit under the radar when it comes to his college recruitment. He notes that schools such as Montana, Michigan, and Michigan State are ones that he likes but other than that, he’s wide open. “I don’t really know yet, I’m still thinking about it,” he said.
More tournaments where he can showcase his scoring ability will no doubt start earning him some looks. His expectations are high the rest of the summer. “I want to average around 25 and get a double-double every game,” he said.
