He played off the ball quite a bit throughout the first session of UAA with his best game coming in the Sunday opening session finale. Great speed in transition with the ball blowing past defenders with ease. Split the defense throughout including one explosive and-1. Also showed improved touch on his three point shot knocking down several triples. Averaged 6.8 points a game while connecting on 4-7 from beyond the three point line. What was it like to get the experience playing on the 17U level for the Illinois Wolves?
“It is great playing up under Coach Mullins because he knows what is best for you and will push you to get where you need to go.”
He broke down his sophomore season at Niles Notre Dame.
“I feel like for such a young team we did good. We kept our composure against an obviously good Evanston team that made to the finals. We competed during the year. That was the goal. We wanted to win, but I really wanted us to just compete this year.”
Where did he see growth in his game?
“I feel I improved on my IQ more. I became more of a lead guard and point guard as opposed to just a scoring guard.”
Sayles spoke about what the program that lands him will be getting.
“I think I bring a lot of energy. I can do whatever a coach needs me to do. I can get a loose ball. I will set up a teammate. I will score at the end of the game or knock down free throws at the end of the game.”
