The Bearcat is a very well-respected event that boasts just shy of 500 teams, 8 represented states, and 20 site locations in and around the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.
The 9th grade (2022) Ohio Buckets won the event. They outlasted their age division of 46 teams and finished the weekend 5-0.
On Saturday, they defeated Western Kentucky Elite (Kentucky) 65-32, and One Vision Academy (Ohio/Kentucky) 58-36, to finish pool play 2-0. On Sunday, they won their quarterfinal tournament game 60-39 over Tri State Hustle. In the semifinals, they defeated the Blazers 61-47 and advanced to the championship game against the Mid-Ohio Pumas (a very good program in Ohio). The Buckets defeated the Pumas 71-54 to bring the tournament championship home to North-Central Ohio.
Prospect:
Big time games from 2022 Max Roth – 6’0” PG/G (Findlay). Max had games of:
VS Western KY Elite: 13 pt, 6 ast, 1 slam
VS One Vision: 18 pt, 8 reb, 2 slams
VS Tri State Hustle: 12 pt (10-12 FT)
VS Mid-Ohio Pumas: 29 pt, 1 slam
Quotes: “Max was all over the place this weekend. He was very active on both ends. Had a lot of deflections which led to run-outs or dunks. He is starting to realize he is usually one of the more athletic kids on the floor every game, and using that to his advantage. He’s really shooting it well so far this spring, too.”

Prospect:
Very big Sunday performances from 2022 Isaac Roeder – 6’2” PF/F (Monroeville). Isaac has games of:
VS Western KY Elite: 9 pt, 9 reb, 5 blk
VS Tri State Assault: 24 pt, 10 reb
VS Mid-Ohio Pumas: 13 pt, 10 reb (all in 2nd half after being in early foul trouble)
Quotes: “Isaac is our high-motor guy and showed why this weekend. His vertical is insane and he can play many positions. He hit just about every midrange jumper he took, and was a huge rim protector all weekend for us. We rely on him to glass it which he’s very good at, too.”

Prospect:
A lights out weekend for 2023 (playing with 2022 team) Logan Beaston – 6’3” G (Tiffin). Logan had games of:
16 pt (4) three pointers (vs One Vision)
23 pt (7) three pointers (vs Blazers)
9 pt (3) three pointers (vs Mid-Ohio Pumas)
Quotes: “Logan is a knock-down shooter. If he gets feet set and any space he’s capable of making shots from anywhere inside the half court. There were multiple instances he gave us huge sparks by going on runs himself with his three shot.”
