Nightrydas, which finished 5-0, played Sunday without 2022 guard Jett Howard. The Davie University School standout turned an ankle.
Takeover played Team Final in the championship game of the DI Gold division. Here are some of the top performers from the 15U final four.
2022 GREGG GLENN (NIGHTRYDAS)
The Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian 6-foot-7 freshman picked up his third offer (Oklahoma State) Monday fresh off a big EYBL Session I. Glenn had 11 points — all in the first half — of the title game victory over The Family. “It feels great,” Glenn said of taking the title. “I knew we were going to win, but we just had to go to work.” He scored 18 points in a 78-66 victory over the Alabama Fusion in the semifinals. Glenn can score on all levels and he is a defender at the rim. He said he wants to work on his shot and his post-up this spring and summer. Glenn’s first two offers were Florida and Iowa State.
2022 JEAN MONTERO (NIGHTRYDAS)
The jet-quick guard, who played with the Dominican Republic National Team, is a tremendous driver. He breaks down defenses with his handle and slashing … did I say he was fast. Montero is not afraid of the big moments. He scores at clutch times. Montero had 24 points vs. the Alabama Fusion and 26 points in the championship game.
2022 BARRY DUNNING (ALABAMA FUSION)
The Mobile (Ala.) McGill-Toolen Catholic 6-6 forward is explosive and plays above the rim. Major problem for opposing defenses. He knocked in 15 points in the semifinal loss to Nightrydas.
2022 DEMARI HENDERSON (NIGHTRYDAS)
The Sanford Seminole freshman pairs well with Jean Montero. Henderson, who has a twin, Ja’Cari on the team, is also a jet quick guard. Henderson scored in double-digits in both final four games. He had 12 vs. the Alabama Fusion and 10 vs. The Family.
2022 TYRESE ELLIOTT (ALABAMA FUSION)
The 6-2 Sparkman High shooting guard can fill it. Nice shot from deep. Elliott poured in 20 points in the semifinal loss to the Nightrydas. Elliott wears No. 20.
2022 JUSTIN ABSON (NIGHTRYDAS)
The North Broward Prep freshman looked leaner in Atlanta and produced with 16 points vs. the Alabama Fusion. As the 6-7 Abson gets his offensive game going, he recruitment will skyrocket. Abson is already an accomplished rebounder and shot-blocker. He averaged 8.6 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3 blocks as a ninth-grader.
EYBL ATLANTA 17s
It ended up being a tough weekend for the Florida programs at Nike EYBL Session I in Atlanta. Nightrydas Elite went 2-2, while Each 1 Teach 1 went 0-4.
Nightrydas are tied for 5th in Division A behind four 3-1 squads: Phenom University, Vegas Elite, PSA and Pro Skills. Nightrydas’ two losses were to Vegas Elite and Team Final.
Four 17U programs went 4-0 in EYBL Session I: Texas Titans, Alabama Fusion, The Family and Indy Heat.
