Evaluations:
• Isaiah Alsip (6’0” / G 2020 / Mid Ohio Magic / Galion): Alsip – has showed the big time scoring ability since his freshman season. In the early games, I often caught the junior disrupting the passing lane, which stood out. Does a really good job of creating his own shot, as he handles the ball well. The stud guard went for 28 points in the championship game, proving to be a bucket. Off the dribble, quick first step and finishing on either side are vital for Isaiah. A true three level scorer, that even values the mid-range.
• Kaveon Ross (6’5” / PF 2020 / Hidden Gems Black / Walnut Ridge): Ross is a perfect fit for the grassroots scene. Able to show more of his game then he did in the HS season. The big man can bang down low, and get an inside bucket. But, as a trailer, Ross has the ability to clean things up at the rim. Put-back ability, you have to watch your head around the athleticism of Kaveon. With big bounce, Ross is a lob threat, as he moves well without the ball. Rim protecting ability is there, but Ross moves his feet well enough to guard a couple positions.
• AJ Mirgon (5’11” / G 2021 / Mid Ohio Pumas Norris / Hilliard Bradley): Mirgon absolutely did his thing this past weekend. Moving well without the ball, AJ is a catch-and-shoot threat from deep, that can let it fly with the best of them. I like the intensity that the sophomore brings, he knows exactly what to do out on the hardwood. Competes hard, at under 6-foot, he doesn’t backdown from a taller matchup. Going for 29 and 31 points over the weekend, Mirgon proved to be a big time scoring threat. Other then shooting, the 5-foot-10 guard doesn’t mind swooping through the lane. A multi-sport athlete.
• Benni Lombardo (6’1” / G 2020 / Mid Ohio Pumas Benson / Dublin Scioto): From the guard spot, Lombardo is going to give his team a scoring option at all times. Impressively, the guard fights on the boards, not shying away. My first time really evaluating Benni’s game, in which he was impressive nonetheless. Can score it from multiple levels, plays tough and has the ability to create for teammate, also.
• Caleb Marshall (6’6” / PF 2020 / Mid Ohio Magic / Bellevue): Marshall is a six-foot-six straight athlete. He is very quick and can jump out of the gym. His shot is pretty smooth and can also put the ball on the ground to make a play. Once he gets post moves he will be dominant. He is a solid rebounder and shot blocker. Caleb is very dominant when the effort is there. Very athletic, he snags rebounds and scores at will. Marshall is so raw on the offensive end with his tendencies, but when he gets there he is going to be a really good prospect.
