Marcus Tankersley Joins EAB
As April opened, Marcus Tankersley joined @PrepHoopsTN in a phone interview.
Last season Marcus played with Chattanooga Elite, but now runs with EAB 16u.
“I like it a lot,” said Marcus Tankersley. “I am just trying to see how I fit in because those guys have been playing with each other the last couple years and I am the only new player on the team.”
Unlike many AAU programs, EAB boasts some semblance of roster consistency year-to-year. BMaze and the Tennessee Tigers are other fine examples of player retainment.
“I am trying to learn my teammates,” said Tankersley. “(Our coach is) Coach Crutcher. He has an assistant.”
Currently a member of 2020 guard, Marcus now intends to reclass down.
“I graduate from high school after next year and then I will go to a post-grad, but we are not sure where yet,” said Marcus Tankersley.
Who will decide where?
“Me, my parents, and Coach Zach (Ferrell).”
Improvement
All winter Marcus Tankersley ran with Hamilton Heights’ second team. In his first year in the program he found himself behind three high major prospects (Jordan Rawls, Samson Ruzhentsev, Drew Williams).
What can Marcus improve upon?
“I actually feel like I could become a better finisher at the rim,” said Tankersley. “I have a really good shot and a good handle, but I want to get to the hole and finish stronger with contact. I go to D1 with Hamilton Heights because we work on explosiveness and I am getting better everyday.”
The future will be new and different for the now-2021 guard. Look for Marcus with EAB 16u all summer long.
