Holloway is about as versatile of a prospect as you are going to find in the state. At the high school level, he can really play 1-5, and at the next level will realistically be able to play the 2-4. His skillset is built perfectly for today’s “positionless game.” His game has a certain smoothness about it that you don’t often see with kids coming out of Louisiana. He is just as capable playing on the ball as he is off of it, and I think he is really going to shine on the Nike EYBL playing with Pro Skills out of Dallas.
Hobert Grayson IV 6’5 East Ascension
Grayson is an electrifying off guard that is capable of getting a bucket whenever he wants. He is capable of scoring at all 3 levels, and has clearly worked hard on his ball handling ability over the past year. He has now progressed to the point where he is a capable secondary ball handler, and is capable of beating even good defenders off the dribble. Where I think he will really excel at the next level is a 3&D wing. He has a long frame, and knows how to use it on the defensive end, altering shots and getting hands in the passing lanes.
Jason Perry 6’4 Madison Prep
Perry is a bouncy wing that is capable of being a disruptor on the defensive end. He has had multiple games this season where he had 5+ steals in a game, and is a capable rim protector as well. He can shoot the ball really well from deep, and has a consistent one dribble pull up from 15 feet as a counter for when defenses are closing out too hard on him.
D’Marcus Hall 6’5 Calvary Baptist
Hall is another prospect to keep an eye on to see how he continues to develop over the next year before he graduates. He is a really capable scorer, especially when it comes to shooting the ball from deep. At the high school level, he is a jack-of-all-trades sort of player, capable of doing everything for his team. However, at the next level, he is going to need an elite skill in order to get time on the floor. If he can continue to build on his jumper, as well as continue to tone up in the weight room, D1 coaches are definitely going to come calling.
Shawn Royal 6’5 Country Day
Royal is another interesting prospect, if only because we didn’t get to see much of him the 2nd half of the school year. He is another long, athletic wing that the state has to offer, and he bring a skill set to the table to back up his athleticism. He is a knockdown shooter from deep, and is capable of putting the ball on the floor in a straight line. The one thing that I wish I could see more from him is his level of aggressiveness on the offensive side of the ball. He has the size and skillset to really be able to take over a high school game, but rarely do you see it. If he is able to put it all together, the rest of the state better watch out.
