DARREN BUCHANAN | 6’5 G/F | 15U TEAM DURANT/WILSON ‘22
Darren Buchanan was responsible for one of the best all-around performances we saw today. He’s a tremendous playmaker at 6-foot-5 but is also adept at creating his own shot in half court or scoring in transition. Buchanan should continue to stand out this spring and summer with his unique blend of size, skill, feel for the game, and athleticism.
CASHEUS COVINGTON | 6’3 G |17U 6th MAN DC/CARROLL ‘20
After hitting his first shot, a smooth-looking spot up three from the corner, Casheus Covington began to mix it up very nicely by attacking closeouts off the bounce and getting to the rim where he showcased good body control and the strength to finish through contact. Covington also defended well on the ball, rebounded, made plays in transition, and communicated with his teammates.
AMIR DADE | 6’0 G | 15U NEW WORLD/ST. CHARLES ‘22
Amir Dade started his game off by netting a spot up three about five feet behind the arc. As the game progressed, Dade showcased his craftiness off the bounce where he used floaters and finished well in traffic. One thing we’d like to see him continue to work on is on-ball defense as he has the tendency to use his hands too often.
JORDAN HAIRSTON | 5’11 G | 17U DISTRICT BC/FLINT HILL ‘19
Jordan Hairston was responsible for the most explosive offensive performance of the day, scoring 26 of his 29 in the second half vs. Team Durant. It’s incredible how quickly he gets his feet set and releases the ball when shooting. Hairston is the ultimate heat check guy and when given the green light can torch any defense.
CJ LEE | 5’11 G | 15U 6TH MAN/NORTHWEST ‘22
CJ Lee really helped himself significantly with two strong performances today. He’s an aggressive scorer who can handle, shoot, break down defenses and make plays both in transition and half court. Lee gives extra effort on defense and rebounds well.
ISHMAEL LEGGETT | 6’3 G | 17U TEAM DURANT/ST. JOHN’S ‘20
There are so many ways in which Ishmael Leggett can impact the game, and we saw this once again as he helped his team earn a hard-fought win. He has great feel both with and without the ball as he is in constant motion while not in possession. Leggett’s on ball defense was tremendous and his strength was evident in his ability to win 50/50 balls, rebound, and finish through contact.
JALEN MILLER | 6’2 G | 16U TEAM DURANT/BISHOP WALSH ‘21
Jalen Miller was efficient offensively and effective defensively while filling various roles for his team. Miller showed that he can handle under pressure, split traps and score efficiently both in half court and transition offense. Defensively, he applied consistent pressure on the ball and was a constant communicator in help side situations.
COLIN SMALLS | 6’0 G | 17U TEAM DURANT/ST. ANDREW’S ‘20
Colin Smalls stood out on both ends of the court, first with his ability to get downhill and finish with touch in the lane. He utilized floaters effectively and showed nice touch which was also evident in his shooting. Smalls smothered his man defensively on the ball and did well to dodge picks. In help side, he worked to deny his man off the ball, but was generally active, alert, and properly positioned.
