Prospects have to lace their shoes up tight and be ready to rock! The kids pay attention to what coach is where, and what kid is doing what. The intensity that the weekend brings is off the charts. This first article in the Live Period Series is for the point guards. Here are 7 2020 floor generals to watch this weekend.
Mark Sears (Alabama Fusion)- Sears has played very well up to this point. The 5’11 point guard has scored at all 3 levels and made plays on both ends of the floor. Keeping that consistency going is critical.
Kam Woods (Nightrydahs)- This weekend will be a huge opportunity to show college coaches that Woods is more than a volume scorer. Showing off his playmaking, efficiency, and defensive energy will be big for Kam.
Trey Bonham (Team Carroll)- Bonham has been a bright spot for Team Carroll. Look for this point guard to continue showing off his two way ability and energy. It is also worth noting Bonham rebounds extremely well from the PG spot.
Corey Boston (Georgia Kings)- Boston is a blur in the open court. He is one of the fastest players end to end in the state. There are times where Boston disappears in the half court. Making his presence felt in all phases of the game should be his focus.
Wren Cole (Nike Elite Stars)- Cole does all the little things and shows off elite shooting range when he is on the court. Eager to see Cole matched up against more athletic guards to see how he handles pressure offensively, and if he will still be as active defensively.
Nick Bonifay (Alabama Celtics)- Bonifay is a kid that can score at all 3 levels and is a dog defensively. Bonifay does a great job commanding the flow of the game, but he needs to be more aggressive offensively.
Caden Pierce (Birmingham Thunder)- Pierce is not the best athlete, but he is a warrior. He plays with high energy and is a stat sheet stuffer. Seeing how he handles more athletic guards will give coaches a better idea on his fit.
