Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several players who raised their profile with strong performances.
8 — Joe Berry, 6’3, G, 2021, Washburn Rural, KC Team YOBO
Berry has taken his game to new heights and appears to just be scratching the surface of his potential. He has good size for a guard at 6’3, but also has a long, wing span and a frame built for basketball. He is a solid athlete, capable of driving the lane and throwing down a slam, can shoot from the outside and is tough defensively where he uses his size well.
5 — Noah Butler, 6’5, G/F, 2019, Free State, KC Team YOBO
One of the state’s most impressive combinations of power and athleticism, Butler is coming off a strong senior season at Free State and has seen his stock rise over recent months. He is a powerful dunker who drew oohs and awes on several occasions throughout the weekend, but is capable of handling the ball, driving to the basket and can knock down outside shots as well. Butler had several pull-up jumpers off the bounce as well.
16 — Rishaud Dockery, 6’2, G/F, 2020, Bonner Springs, Team KC Grey
Really like this kid’s game. He is a worker who does it at both ends and is willing to do whatever it takes for his team to be successful. This past season he mostly played off the ball while standout point guards Keyon Thomas and Alan Watson, and playing on an undersized squad, Dockery played in the paint, got on the boards. Over the weekend with Team KC however, Dockery showed the ability to handle the ball and often brought the ball up the floor and got his team into its sets. He is a terrific all-around player who does a lot of good things at both ends of the court.
0 — Wazel Evans, 5’11, G, 2020, Wyandotte, KC Team Yobo
Evans impresses with his all-around play and ability to score buckets in bunches. He is a strong leader at guard and can both handle the point guard duties and put points on the board when needed. He impressed throughout Saturday’s game with his willingness to play pressure defense and get into opponents.
10 — Alex Littlejohn, 6’4, F/G, 2021, Bishop Carroll, KS Pray N Play
Littlejohn is coming off a standout sophomore season at Bishop Carroll and showed that he is capable of playing an inside-out type game throughout the weekend. Littlejohn is a good 3-point shooter, can handle the ball on the perimeter, and is a tough match-up in the paint as he has a soft shooting touch. He has played a lot in the front court for his high school team, but is capable of playing on the wing as he showed this weekend.
