OLATHE, Kan. — The Jayhawk Invitational was held in Kansas City this weekend with a host of talented players stepping up and making a name for themselves.
Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several forwards who raised their profile with strong performances.
21 — Ty Bowman, 6’5, F, 2020, Chanute, Victory
A hard worker in the paint, Bowman was a key performer for a Victory team that is otherwise often undersized. Bowman is a strong, athletic player who plays much bigger than his listed height would suggest. A left hander, he can step out and knock down outside shots and has a soft shooting touch in the lane.
9 — Blake Danitschek, 6’5, F, 2021, Kapuan Mt Carmel, KS Pray N. Play
Daniitschek brings terrific size, length and versatility to the court and showed off an all-around game throughout the weekend. He is capable of defending in the paint or on the perimeter where he uses his length to challenge opposing players. At the offensive end of the court, he can handle the ball a little and has the ability to knock down shots, or score around the basket.
31 — Kenyan Myers, 6’5, F, 2020, Leavenworth, Team KC Grey
Myers was among the better all-around athletes we saw throughout the weekend in Kansas, showcasing his ability to quickly spring off the floor, move his feet on defense and run the floor on offense. He had a host of impressive blocked shots and slam dunks and consistently plays above the rim at both ends of the floor.
4 — Shawn Warrior, 6’4, G/F, 2020, Campus, KS Pray N Play
Warrior has established himself as one of the state’s top players in the 2020 class and has an evolving all-around game. He is a force in the paint where he has a good feel for scoring over and around bigger players, but can also step out to the perimeter and handle the ball and shoot from the perimeter. He is a tough mach-up for most teams thanks to his all-around skill level and play.
