“It was a blessing,” Hunter told Prep Hoops Wisconsin. “It came on my birthday too. I worked for it all summer. They liked that I play hard, I get after it up and down the court, and I’m a leader.”
Hunter is also receiving early interest from Marquette, Virginia, Michigan, Arizona, Texas A&M, Toledo, Liberty, and Western Illinois. He said both Toledo and Virginia have been showing the most love thus far.
Toledo: They’re looking forward to seeing me during the AAU season. They just want to see me progress and get better.”
Virginia: “I love Virginia. They want to see me get better too. They’re in the Final Four right now. They have a lot of history. I know about coach Bennett (Tony Bennett) from Wisconsin.”
As a sophomore, Hunter averaged 14.8 points per game for the Angels, who went 21-4 and shared the Metro Classic Conference title with eventual Division 3 state champion Martin Luther.
Hunter has no early favorites in his recruitment and plans to be patient with the process.
“I want to see who is the most interested in me and who wants to develop me as a player,” he said.
