I have been bragging about this class since day one and it is very special. Their sophomore years of high school have ended, well for basketball, and they will now be fully focused on receiving attention throughout the AAU circuit. Here I breakdown on just a few 2021 prospects in the state of Georgia.
2021 F Jabari Smith Jr. of Sandy Creek High School – pictured
The 6-foot-9 forward Jabari Smith Jr. has burst onto the national scene after a stellar sophomore campaign for Sandy Creek. Alabama, Auburn, Georgetown, Western Kentucky, LSU, Florida State, Ole Miss, Arkansas Little-Rock, Georgia Tech, and Georgia have all offered the young big man since his sophomore campaign began back in October. He has a fluid game for a kid his size. Jabari can post up, has a face up game, and can also show his versatility by hitting the outside jumper. The upside in him is very high and will receive more national attention as the year goes on.
2021 W Matthew Cleveland of Cambridge High School
Matthew Cleveland has raised his level of play big time since his freshman year at Cambridge. He has recenlty been put on the “live period” watch list and should be receiving much attention from college coaches and scouts as the year goes on. His 6-foot-6 frame and long arms should already draw interest. He can attack in transition, finish at the rim with a soft touch or powerful finish, and plays with solid energy and aggression. TCU, Georgia, and Florida State have been Cleveland’s latest offers but like I said, he will receive more in the next couple of months.
2021 C Frank Ansalem of Lincoln Academy
When he was a freshman, I told myself that Frank would be one of the best bigs nationally in his class. Frank is now currently ranked 38th according to ESPN. Although he needs to work more on his offensive game, Ansalem is an elite rim protector with extremely long arms. His recent offers include Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Penn State. He has great size, can run rim-to-rim, and makes his presence known in the paint defensively. He has certainly improved his game and body since his freshman campaign and his full potential has yet to be unlocked.
2021 G/F Robbie Armbrester of Therrell High School
The 6-foot-5 Robbie Armbrester has probably been one of the most underrated prospects in the state of Georgia. The high motor guard/forward plays with tremondous energy on both ends of the floor. He is an explosive, bouncy prospect who will set the tone for his team. Coming off his state championship run with his high school program in his sophomore campaign, Robbie will be looking to bring the same momentum into the AAU season and trying to capture college coaches and scout’s attention over the next couple of months.
2021 SG Taihland Owens of Cherokee High School
Mr. Taihland Owens received his first official offer from Georgia Tech today. Owens should be receiving offers like that throughout the AAU season if he continues to play like he has been since he stepped foot in high school. Taihland sits at 6-foot-3, is an elite perimeter scorer and shot maker, and holds great size at his position. Taihland still has a lot to learn in his all around game as he has much time to grow to reach his full potential.
