However, according to my social media accounts, colleges beg to differ. Players have been posting offers, commitments and signings at a high rate as of late, but there is plenty of talent still on the board. With the April live period looming, let’s take a look at some of the top remaining unsigned players in the Houston area.
BACKCOURT PROSPECTS
Tayvion Peavey – Photo Cred: Forever Young FilmsTAYVION PEAVEY – 6’2 Combo Guard. Foster High School. Yet to play AAU ball this summer.
Peavey is a respected scorer in his area. Although he doesn’t have a traditional shooting form, he definitely has the ability to score from anywhere on the floor. Good shooter from the 3 point line and crafty at getting to the rim and finishing. Twitter: @taypeavey
BJ Morris – 5’10 Point Guard. Houston Can Academy. Texas Takeover Elite Ned (AAU)
Recruitment has really began to ramp up as of late. This shifty point guard can fill it up from all three levels but his vision, at times, is what is impressive. He is a team player, coachable and a leader on the floor. Look for him to play at the Duncanville GASO in Duncanville, TX, the weekend of April 26th. Twitter: @glogodjay
CORIN ROBINSON – 6’0 Guard. Klein Forest High School. Yet to play AAU ball this summer.
Corin had a great run to the Texas UIL 6A State Championship game. He plays with EXTREMELY HIGH energy and MAXIMUM effort EVERY play. While he is a stifling perimeter defender, he is still a solid shooter from beyond the arc and extremely active around the rim. Twitter: Hn_corin
MATT GUIDRY– 6’4 SG/SF. Elsik High School. Houston Raptors Benjamin (AAU)
Guidry is an UTLRA athletic kid whose athleticism often overshadows other areas of his game. He is great with his off the ball movements and an absolute force as a weak side shot blocker. His outside jumper can be a bit inconsistent, but he is definitely capable of stretching the floor.
JALEN CRAWFORD – 5’10 Point Guard. Spring Woods High School. Texas Takeover Elite Myron (AAU)
Big things can come in small packages, and this kid is a perfect example of that. He is an efficient shooter from deep, plays great perimeter defense and doesn’t turn the ball over often. When he attacks the paint, it is almost an art the way he is able to create shots for himself. A true all around point guard. Twitter: @jalenmsft
BRYCE BURNS – 6’5 Shooting Guard. Westfield High School. TF Elite (AAU)
This 6’5 guard is extremely long. He can shoot the ball from deep, defend nearly every position on the floor and has solid vison. All of his ability is enhanced by his athleticism. He jumps high, runs fast and can think on the move. Look for him to play at the Duncanville GASO in Duncanville, TX, the weekend of April 26th.Twitter: @brycesonburns
KEVON GREEN – 6’0 Point Guard. Madison High School. Texas Takeover Elite Myron (AAU)
Quick, fast and extremely effective at getting paint touches as a guard. His lateral quickness allows him to stay in front of whoever he is guarding so he creates a lot of turnovers as a defender. He doesn’t shoot it from deep very often, but he is a capable 3 point shooter. Twitter: @ybg_von
FRONT COURT PROSPECTS
Clayton Carpenter – Photo Cred: Paige CarpenterCLAYTON CARPENTER – 6’9 PF/C. Westbrook High School. Team Harden (AAU)
Carpenter is a traditional big with a soft touch from outside. His footwork on the block is solid which makes him effective down low with his back to the basket. He rebounds pretty well and has the potential to really develop into a deep threat with the soft shooting touch that he has. Look for him to play at the Adidas Gauntlet in Dallas, TX, the weekend of April 26th. Twitter: @clayton_11_
DARRYL JONES – 6’8 Power Forward. Dulles High School. Texas Takeover Elite Myron (AAU)
Jones is extremely long and extremely raw. However, he is a dominant defense force, particularly on the weak side and he runs the floor exceptionally well. Inside the paint, he rebounds well on both ends of the floor and finished well. Twitter: @darryl_jones27
KYLON BRYANT – 6’6 Power Forward. Madison High School. Houston Raptors Benjamin (AAU)
Bryant is one of those “hard working” players. He rebounds, defends and goes after 50/50 balls. All the things that an undersized “big” needs. Inside the paint, he finishes well and he has the ability to stretch the floor with his outside shooting. Look for him to play at the Duncanville GASO in Duncanville, TX, the weekend of April 26th.
