The Cary Grove (IL) guard canned six 3s against Team Factory 17u during a highly entertaining semifinal game on Saturday night. It’s not like he was firing up a ton of shots either, Frericks missed maybe twice in that game from beyond the arc. And it wasn’t the first time he’d been lighting it up in the tourney.
Marcus Skeete (H.I.T 17u)
Known in Illinois as more as a combo-forward than a shooting guard, this Waubonsie Valley junior was shooting it like a pro all last weekend. His best shooting game was during an Elite 8 loss to SD Attack, Skeete hit five 3s in that one. He flings it up there, and although his release is a bit unorthodox, it has a perfect arc, and was certainly going in more often than not in Omaha.
Kobe Busch (SD Attack 17u)
A Huron (SD) junior, Busch put on a show during a 67-53 triumph over H.I.T., canning five 3-balls and scoring a game-high 25 points in the win. At 6’4, Busch has the height to get off his shot over smaller guards and his shot is more of a low rising dagger than anything else.
Dustin Beauprey (Wisconsin Crusaders 16u)
Everything this Mountain Top Christian sophomore was throwing up against Team Factory 16u in the Elite 8 was dropping. His team didn’t get the win against the eventual champion TF squad, but Beauprey thoroughly impressed while dropping four 3s and scoring 27 points.
Max Murrell (Team Factory 17u)
It’s almost not fair how well this Millard North junior can shoot it. He’s a legit 6’9 and was all over the rims throughout the weekend, but he was letting it fly from deep as well as anything. He’s got a pure stroke and when his shot drops, the net splashes.
Nolan Reuter (Minnesota Heat 16u)
Albany High school’s own Nolan Reuter was showcasing one of the prettier strokes we saw all weekend, maybe the prettiest. He was essential in helping his MN Heat squad get by H.I.T. in the 16u semifinal on Sunday morning, canning three first half 3s and scoring 15 points in the win.
Max Rivera (H.I.T. 16u)
H.I.T. may not have gotten the win against Minnesota Heat in the 16u Final 4 on Sunday morning, but Max Rivera stayed red-hot in the loss. The 5’11 Nequa Valley sniper scored a team-high 19 points and put in four 3s total in that one, two in each half.
Isaac Mickle (Powerhouse Hoops 15u)
The gym was freezing cold Friday night in Omaha, but this Lincoln East (NE) freshman stayed hot. He was scoring from all over the court against BBA Force, and showcased a smooth and quick release from deep helping him to a team-high 17 points in that one.
