PG Davis Walker (Team RWA 17U)
Walker lived up to his billing as one of the better guards in the 2020 Illinois class. The Home Schooled guard has really improved since we saw him last fall. First and foremost was his body as he has seemed to slimmed down and improved his athleticism. Walker played on the ball throughout the event. This is new as we have seen him mostly off the ball as a spot up shooter. He did a nice job of running the show and winning off the bounce while still knocking down threes. Should garner quite a bit of interest in Madison next weekend from D1 coaches.
F Aaron Tims (Team RWA 17U)
Tims didn’t have a dominant weekend by any means, but there is no denying his upside as a prospect. Tims has size at 6’7” with quick twitched athleticism around the hoop. He is at his best getting on the offensive glass for put backs as well as scoring in transition. Also took his man off the bounce a few times facing up throughout the event.
SG Jaiden Lee (Illinois T-Wolves 17U)
Lee is a top 20 2021 prospect in the state and the highest ranked prospect on the Illinois T-Wolves. We have likened him to a young Dajuan Gordon with his build and similar skill set at the same age. Lee is a plus shooter who flashed that on Friday night, but overall it was his transition scoring, defensive mentality, and crashing the glass that stood out.
SF Jerry Deng (BBA Force 15U)
Deng stands at 6’5” and this combo forward has skill, athleticism, and projectability. He rebounded well in his area high pointing boards. Also showed he could put it on the deck some and even hit a three. So many intriguing tools to work with as a 2022 recruit.
SF Marcus Skeete (HIT 17U)
Skeete really impressed us with his play over the weekend. We saw him during the high school season and at a recent workout, but man has this kid really improved as a perimeter shooter! The 6’5” small forward consistently knocked down triples at a high rate with a smooth looking stroke. Body has improved and he still makes an impact with his rebounding, defense, and energy.
PF Sam Schultz (HIT 17U)
Schultz is a skilled face up four that can shoot it and put it on the deck. The top 20 Illinois prospect is a skilled offensive weapon. He was the best we have seen him scoring off the dribble with several strong drives. We were impressed with out well he boarded especially in traffic against South Dakota Attack.
F Matthew Mors (South Dakota Attack 17U)
This was our first chance to see the hyped 2021 combo forward from South Dakota. He has multiple high-major offers already. Mors showed well knocking down triples, completing crafty finishes in the paint including several and-1s, and we liked how he dished the rock. Nice combination of skill and a high basketball IQ. Fun player to watch.
SF Kobe Busch (South Dakota Attack 17U)
Busch ran with Mors and because so much attention was paid to Mors this 2020 small forward went off! He was one of the premier shooters at the event with a quick and concise stroke that went in at a high rate when we saw him against HIT. Lights out shooter!
C Max Murrell (Team Factory 17U)
Murrell was a prospect we hadn’t heard much about, but he is going to open up eyes of college coaches over the next few months. At 6’9” this center is super intriguing. He can space the floor with his shooting looking comfortable connecting from three. Also put it on the deck on a shot fake when defenders flew at him. Rebounds well in traffic and is a major shot blocking presence. In the semis he swatted the game tying attempt at the rim.
PF John Shanklin (Team Factory 17U)
Shanklin played next to Murrell and this 6’8” post was very effective with the way he rebounded. Strong kid with broad shoulders that finished with strength around the rim. Anchors well down low. Can hit a mid-range jumper.
