Hard Work Live: Top Three-Point Shooters
The bar that qualifies a scholarship three-point shooter has been climbing at breakneck speed. This past weekend, these prospects continued raising that standard with their endeavors beyond the arc.
Kobe Busch 17U – South Dakota Attack: This kid will be plastering front pages and keeping our coverage interesting for the next year — if that wasn’t already obvious at this point. And I say that following his abuse of nylon last Sunday, as he converted on seven three-point attempts in his final outing at Stoughton. His form is a copybook, Klay Thompson, on the precipice of perfect. And with solid height and strength, there’s a reason he’s being coaxed by colleges around the midwest.
Jaiden Lee – Illinois TWolves: I swear a couple of light bulbs at Kromrey went dark when Lee took the floor last Saturday, as he commenced a similar version of Busch’s shooting heroics. It took Lee roughly ten minutes to knock down 6-7 threes last Saturday, as he connected on his first five attempts from that range. His length added some unblockable-ness to a superstar jumper, as he could convert even with defenders lunging towards him.
James Dent Jr. 16U – Capital City Team Work: Dent got a few head-nodding, eyebrow-raising approvals from me on Saturday. In an afternoon matchup with Minnesota Select, he drilled five threes, three of which came in the first half. And it’s not just the jumper with him, as defenders have to take into account his willingness as an attacker.
Tyvin Garrison 16U – Capital City Team Work: Garrison has the markings of a positionless player. With his atypical skill set relative to his body, the 6’6, lengthy gunner provides defenses with irking matchup assignments, as he exploited un-apt defenders all weekend shooting over slower bigs or smaller guards.
Mid Michigan Elite: As a unit, this team was scorching early Sunday afternoon. They hit 14 threes total in a win over Hoops 4 Health, manufacturing an offense predicated on floor spacing. Jarred Houghton, their top shooter that game, converted on three triples from a considerable distance beyond the three-point arc.
