On the opening night there were plenty of players that put their talents on display. This article highlights the top standouts of the opening night that played at Solid Rock.
#4 CJ Campbell- Oklahoma Eagles 17U
CJ Campbell was one of the faster players I seen on the night. He controlled the game with his transition buckets as well as applying pressure to the opposing teams guards which made it hard for them to ever get in a rhythm. CJ is a player I would be on the look out for as the weekend progress more cause he is sure to have some big games.
#24 Amos Alford-Kansas Grind Elite Thompson 17U
Amos Alford forces you to take notice with how well he plays. He is a long combo guard that eats up the mid-range extended jumpers with jumpers and floaters. As the game went on he kept his foot on the gas and attacked the defense in every way. Even while his team was losing the game he still gave 100% on both ends of the floor and was a player that really stood out.
#1 Sean Pedulla- Team Buddy Buckets 16U Elite
Sean Pedulla has a very smooth game on both sides of the ball. He never looked rushed on the offensive end of the floor even when there was pressure. He calmed things down and showed that he is a high IQ player with the ball and he showed that when he got the ball rather it was scoring the ball or getting the ball to the open man. On defense he was sound and stayed in the passing lanes to help create turnovers.
#32 Daimian Collins- Team Griffin 16U Elite
Daimian Collins was surely the most dominate big man in the gym on Friday. He changed all shots at the rim on the defensive end of the floor. As well as rebounded the ball at a high level. On the offensive end of the floor he had multiple rim rocking dunks that got people on their feet. His Griffin team is one of the slacked team in the 16U division as far as talent goes but they will only go as far as Daimian takes them.
#40 Carlos Miller- All Arkansas Red 17U
Carlos Miller is one of those point guards that does everything his own way, it’ll be hard for a team to game plan against him cause he constantly takes whatever the defense throws at him. Just just seeing him play for one day I seen him break down a defensive various ways. At times he took the pressure head on for a tough lay-up, or he was stopping on a dime to pull up for a mid-range jumper. Regardless of what the defensive it is Carlos will find his way through it.
#5 Kenduarl Jolly – Team Buddy Buckets 17U Elite
Kenduarl Jolly is a smaller guard that has the heart of a lion. There isn’t one match up this weekend to where he would have the upper hand height wise but what he doesn’t have in height he makes up for with his toughness. Kenduarl lives in the paint on the offensive end even with bigs flying in to try in block his shot. He uses his body as a shield to get good looks at the rim and often times draw the foul.
