Wear Out the Net Bertsch is one of the teams to watch at the 16U level as its got a great combination of size, skill and athleticism.
Here’s a quick look
Guards: Luke Hart, Eli Green, Noah Nephew, Kip Schetnan, Jake Cochnauer, Drew Maloney
Green and Cochnauer were fringe varsity guys at Farmington last year as sophomores and should be in line for a lot more playing time next year as upperclassmen. Hart was in a similar position at Shakopee last year and while he’s likely going to be behind some very good senior guards next year, he’ll have an opportunity to really showcase his game first this summer before stepping into a role with the Sabers.
Nephew didn’t see the floor at all as Lakeville North was one of the more senior-heavy teams in the state but he’s an athletic, strong guard who really excels on the defensive end of the floor.
Schetnan was a core rotation guy at Northfield last year and will likely be a feature guy at that school going forward. You generally know what you are getting with guys from Northfield and Schetnan fits the mold as a big, athletic and smart wing who can impact the game in a lot of ways.
Maloney is an intriguing player as he’s one of the best deep shooters and scorers in southern Minnesota. He’s got great size for a wing and has an advanced feel for a sophomore.
Forwards: Matt Miller, Cooper Laufenburger, Will Blascziek, Josh Streit
Miller, Laufenburger and Blascziek are all Lakeville North kids who are looking to make names for themselves ahead of their upperclass years.
Streit is another intriguing piece in the frontcourt given his combination of size and explosiveness. He’s 6-foot-7 but has a smoothness in his game. He’s a vacuum on the glass and does a great job finishing everything in traffic.
