College programs will be flocking to get a look at Heat Tauer this summer as coaches look to get an early jump on top juniors-to-be. This will be one of the best teams in Minnesota without question.
Here’s a quick look
Guards: Ryan Dufault, Trey Longstreet, Jack Tauer, Nolan Reuter, Max Hofschulte-Beck, Carter Weierke
Dufault is the only guy under 6-foot-2 on this team and he’s arguably the best guard of the bunch. At 5-foot-11, Dufault is a terrific scorer and playmaker. He’s dynamite from the 3-point line, he can probe and finish over length and he sets the tempo extremely well. He has an advanced feel for the game and does a great job balancing his own shot with getting his teammates going.
Longstreet is a multi-year starter from Delano who at 6-foot-6, can present all sorts of matchup issues for other teams. He’s skilled with the ball in his hands or as a secondary facilitator and can score effectively from the 3-point line and in. His length and quickness allows him to guard up and down a lineup.
Weierke is another big guard who can handle the ball and create opportunities for his teammates.
Tauer is a talented ball handler from Cretin-Derham Hall who provides value as a defender and as a secondary playmaker. Reuter is a wing from Albany who can score from pretty much anywhere on the floor.
Forwards: Will Tschetter, Andrew Morgan, Zac Thomas
This frontcourt is going to cause problems for people as all three of these guys are top-30 players in the 2021 class.
Tschetter, out of Stewartville, is one of the best inside-out big men in the state. At 6-foot-8, he’s got a pretty shooting touch from deep, a strong frame and relentless workmanlike style in the paint.
Morgan has been a productive player at Waseca the last two years and he’s one of the best players in the 2021 class because of his combination of size (6-foot-9), mobility, physicality and skill.
Thomas is a talented forward from East Ridge. At 6-foot-7, he’s an active and athletic interior piece. He’s a solid rebounder and quality team defender and does his best work offensively when he’s crashing the glass or playing around the rim.
