Here is a quick look at ECI Selects 16U coached by Jon Purintun.
Guards: Barika Kpeenu, Adam Dietz, Mason Love, Gavin Haldis, Lucas Schumacher
Many of these guys are relatively unknown on the recruiting trails at this point given so few of them have seen varsity action. This is a great opportunity for guys like Kpeenu, Dietz and Haldis to get their names out there before hopefully earning some playing time next winter as upperclassmen.
Love was a starter for Grand Forks Central and was one of the best assist guys in the EDC last season, averaging around seven per contest.
Schumacher saw a lot of playing time and was a feature guy with Linton-HMB as a sophomore and he’s going to continue to be the go-to guy for that team. He’s a terrific long-range shooter and has good size.
Forwards: Khamani Steckler, Alex Barbot, Logan Schauberg, Mason Gravseth
Steckler saw a little bit of time with Grand Forks Red River last season and at 6-foot-6, he’s a player to watch because he’s got really good size and a solid frame to go along with a solid motor and athleticism.
Gravseth was a productive interior player for GF Central last year, averaging 10 points and eight rebounds while Barbot averaged nine per game and was one of the better deep shooters.
Schaubert is in a similar boat as a lot of the guards in that he was stuck behind top-notch upperclassmen last year and will use this summer to get his name out there.
